Brief Description

The volume of all buildings in London plotted with the size and colour of the dot proportional to the size of the building structure.

Detailed Information

All buildings structures in London with volumes more than 15 metres squared are plotted with the colour and size of the dot proportional to the building volume. The volume is caluculated from the outline of the building on the map, extruded up by the average height of all the lidar points falling within this outline.

Due to the way volumes are calculated, some shapes of buildings can be over or under represented. An example of this is the post office tower, where the footprint of the building is quite large, but the tall thin part in the centre of this is relatively small.
