Brief Description

Oyster card overcharging data 2010 for Docklands Light Railway (DLR) stations only

Detailed Information

The data shows the amount overcharged on Oyster Cards for 2010 for Docklands Light Railway (DLR) stations only. National Rail and London Underground stations are in separate datasets. Where a National Rail or London Underground station is shown on this map, it will be for an interchange station and the figures are for passengers exiting through the DLR exit only.

The data is taken from the TfL document which was passed to BBC London News and made available for download on their website at the following link:

http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/london/pdf/oysterovercharging.pdf

The station locations come from the KML dataset downloaded from the London Datastore, which was missing a number of the DLR stations. The locations for missing stations were obtained from wikimedia and added manually, but have a lower positional accuracy than the data sourced from the London Datastore.

One anomaly in the TfL document appears to be West Silvertown which is listed as "WSilvertown" and "West Silvertown" with figures of 15,000 and 9,000 respectively.

The colour scale for the DLR data is identical to the colour scale for the London Underground data so that a direct comparison can be made. While the original London Underground data's colour scale used quintiles calculated from the orvercharging data, the DLR data is no longer quintiles, but just a general threshold range to match the London Underground data.
